Piers Leigh - Director of Photography London and Bristol

I am passionate about the artistry and craft of the camera department, where all the hard work in pre-production before the shoot is funnelled into the moment when we press record.

For the time the camera is recording, the essence of the project is distilled. Then, when we stop recording, that essence expands out into all the work carried out in post-production.

I never cease to enjoy the purity of the moment we record, our craft with the camera giving expression to the craft of others, every skilled craftsperson, technician and creative working in pre- and post-production.

I have worked with many of the most famous presenters and personalities and I have shot content for all the major broadcasters and production companies, working in both drama and documentary.

I am confident operating in challenging environments, filming in demanding and extreme conditions from the Arctic to the Antarctic, from the Sahara to the Himalayas.

In addition, I have a number of credits as Producer/Director on broadcast documentary and I am a partner with Keme Nzerem in Cloud Creek Films, a Production Company making independent content about under-represented stories and communities.

A wealth of experience

With a rich background in drama and documentary as Director of Photography, I bring a profound appreciation for the artistry and demands of the camera department. I have often had to find new solutions to technical problems, whether working in remote locations or achieving complex shoots with large crews and many moving parts.
From meticulous pre-production planning to capturing transformative moments. From challenging environments to under-represented narratives.
